Sleep is so important for us but it is so difficult to shut our brains down and just relax get into REM and recharge those batteries for the next day. This blog will help you go out there with unstoppable energy and feel better than ever before.
Step 25: Manage Your Tasks Well
A lot of people feel guilty about this. Procrastination is sweet, until you have to face the responsibilities and tasks that you delayed. 24 hours is enough to face all your daily activities. If you are stuck in traffic, you can read and study. If you have a free time, do not kill it off by watching movies online and surfing on social media. Think of the tasks you have to finish and then do it. Just do it. The moment you decide to postpone it, your task is as good as undone. Divide large tasks into subunits. If you have, for example, a 20 page paper due in 3 weeks, write research and write 1 to 4 pages a day. Overwhelming yourself can really lead to procrastination and in turn sleepless nights that can lead to a wrecked circadian rhythm.
Step 26: Do Not Watch Late Night News
A lot of people have the habit of tuning into late night news and TV shows to unwind. However, this habit is not beneficial to your sleep. Most late night news feature negative news such as crimes, rallies, economic and environment problems. To make matters seem light in the end, a short celebrity news or gossip is included. After watching the late night news, your mind is left stimulated and worse, worried and anxious. You’ve seen how experts declare that the euro is declining and coincidentally, how the oil prices are becoming a threat, how less and less high school graduates can afford college loans and how many people have died fighting terrorists. At the end, you would just worry about your job, your children and your future in general. Avoid implanting anything negative on your mind before you go to sleep.
Step 27: Be Intimate With Your Partner
An orgasm is one of the best ways to fall asleep. Having sex causes many hormonal changes in the body. One of which is the increase in production of oxytocin. Oxytocin is a hormone that creates a calm and attached feeling. It’s high when two people bond together, regardless if they are lovers or not. The level of oxytocin in mothers is high during breastfeeding because she forms a bond with her child. Oxytocin cancels out the effects of the stress hormone cortisol. However, not everyone who makes love releases enough amount of oxytocin to be able to bond. In a journal called Physiological Review, enough amount of oxytocin is released if partners engaged in other sensual and intimate acts such as cuddling, hugging and fondling each other. Take time to unwind with your partner without talking about negative things and bills.
